What to do if your heart rate monitor or speedometer isn't working?

Heart Rate Monitors & Speedometers

How to use your sensor correctly and avoid problems

Do you use a heart rate monitor or speedometer for running or cycling? Most problems arise from incorrect pairing, no reset, or using an unsuitable app.

Which product do you have?

  • Heart rate monitor (chest strap or armband)
  • Speed or cadence sensor for your bike

Note: The sensor does not have a screen. Data is always displayed via an app or sports watch.

First Use

  1. Activate the sensor by wearing it or moving the bike
  2. Turn on Bluetooth on your phone
  3. Always pair the sensor via the sports app, not via Bluetooth settings

Recommended apps

  • Apple Health
  • Samsung Health
  • Strava
  • Runkeeper

If the sensor doesn't work in one app, always try another app first.

Common problems

Sensor does nothing: often not activated.

Connected, but no data: check app and Bluetooth permissions.

Incorrect heart rate: wear the chest strap snugly and slightly moist.

It worked before: reset the sensor.

Troubleshooting

  1. Remove the battery from the sensor
  2. Wait 30–60 seconds
  3. Reinsert the battery
  4. If necessary, try another app
